My sockpal’s socks are complete! I am really happy with the stripe match-up and the overall socks.
To recap, this is Regia Silk in color 188. I cast on 70 stitches tubularly and worked one inch of 1×1 ribbing. I then switched to a 4×1x9×1 rib. When I reached the spot for the heel, I knit 34 stitches with a waste yarn and then continued down the foot, with only the top in the rib pattern. I worked a banded toe until I had 32 stitches left and kitchenered them together. I picked out the heel waste yarn and worked the heel the same way as the toe.
If I were to do these again, I MIGHT use a gusseted heel, because the rib stretches a little weird across the widest part of my foot (heel/ankle area). But then again, I might not, because I really like the uninterrupted stripe sequence. I would use only two stitches in the band on the heel instead of four if I stuck with the afterthought heel though.
We spent last weekend in Milwaukee with our friends from Minneapolis. It was a really great relaxing weekend. I picked up Harry Potter and cruised through it by Sunday evening. Some theories I had were proven true, and others I was way off on – but it was an amazing read and completes the series perfectly. I also knit up a dishcloth and a facecloth while we were there.

Ballband Dishcloth in leftover Lion Cotton. This is the famous Mason-Dixon pattern from the book – but I found the original pattern free somewhere on the internet. I made this one out of leftover yarn before I invested in Sugar’n Cream to make a bunch more because I wanted to see what the back looked like first. And that picture didn’t turn out, so I can’t even show you! But I did like it, so I bought a bunch of cheap yarn and am pretty far on the second one.

I also made a GRRR facecloth. I think this is the cutest thing ever. Loopy for lots of lather on one side, and bumpy for a good scrub on the other.

All the cloths are for a basket to raffle at the GPA gala for my greyhound group this October.
